Ancient Kidd Heavy Weight Tartan. The origins of this Tartan can be traced to 1819 when it was also known as Caledonia and MacPherson. At that time the Tartan was predominantly sold to a Dealer called Kidd in Angus. However, the name Kidd can be found generally throughout the British Isles and can be traced back to the English Kidde meaning a Woodman, or a seller of faggots.
